Visit royal palaces and tombs
Hue’s mausoleum is home to inter and bury the kings who select Hue the economic and political center in their reign. When being still alive, the kings built for themselves royal tombs. Therefore royal tombs are used for not only king burial but also the place for rest when these kings were alive.
Hue’s mausoleum system includes 7 mausoleums with different architecture; therefore, you should spend about 1 day visiting all the tombs and admire their unique architecture.
Gia Long Tomb is located in the complex of Thien Tho mountain, Huong Tho commune, Huong Tra district, Thua Thien – Hue.
Minh Mang Tomb is 12 kilometer from Hue center and situated on Cam Khe mountain and near Bang Lang crossroad.
Thieu Tri Tomb leans back in Thuan Dao mountain, Cu Chanh village, Thuy Bang commune, Huong Thuy district and is 8 kilometer from Hue city center.
Tu Duc Tomb lies in a narrow valley of Thuong ba village, Thuy Xuan commune.
Dục Đức Tomb is located in An Cuu district, Hue city
Dong Khanh Tomb belongs to Thuong Hai village, Thuy Xuan commune, Hue city and is located between Thieu Tri and Tu Duc tombs.
Khai Dinh Tomb is placed on Chau Chu mountain, Thuy Bang commune, Huong Thuy district and about 10km from Hue city to the southwest.
Going for a walk around Hue Citadel
The Citadel was the residence of kings in the ancient capital city of Hue. This is one of the sites you should not miss in Hue. Coming here, you will admire unique and impressive architectural buildings like Ngo Mon, Thai Hoa palace, Kien Trung and Phung Tien palace.

Along the way, you can stop at any points of any tourist visiting fascinating and enjoy food having distinctive flavor such as bún bò Huế ( rice vermicelli with beef), nem lui (grilled pork spring roll) and bánh bèo (a type of rice cake). Besides, you can visit a few ancient houses selling souvenirs such as bracelets, oil paintings and clothes following Hue’s style.
