Bac Ha market
Previously, Bac Ha market was held on a gentle hill. Then the market was built on a concrete floor and divided into different departments, which partly makes Bac Ha market lose the pristine beauty. Bac Ha market sells all products of the uplands including essential items for ethnic people such as plough, hoe, shovel, knife, vegetable, fruit and honey.
In addition, you can buy jewelry, dress, brocade cloth and rattan papoose. Foreign tourists are interested in the hand-woven paintings with vivid motifs and harmonious combination of colors.
For the regional men, they go to the market to meet each other to drink wine and eat “thắng cố”. The area of selling horse attracts the most men, many of whom come from remote villages and some provinces of Bac Giang and Ha Tay.
Muong Hum market
Muong Hum market is located in a small valley, next to a clear stream and surrounded by towering mountains. The weekend fair is the meeting place for Ha Nhi, H’Mong, Hoa, Giay, Dao Do, Dao Tuyen and Han ethnic groups.
On weekdays, people come here to admire the beautiful scenery of Muong Hum, while on the fair, the stream along the market is the most eye-catching scene. By the stream, studs of horses with various colors gather beside the spring. Sometimes, the whinny of the horses makes the mountainous painting more lively. Suspension bridges or rock bridges crossing the stream always have a great number of people who lead their horses.
